Sauvignon Blanc

AmRhein's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc

This classic style refreshing wine features lemon and grapefruit with subtle hints of fresh cut grass minerality.

Viticulture and Vineyard Site

While Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown around the world, the best wines come from cooler climates. That is why we grow this grape at our Franklin County Vineyard on the east slope of the Blue Ridge Plateau. 1700’ elevation, red clay soil, warm days and cool nights bring this grape to its fullest potential at harvest.

Wine Making

The goal for this vintage was to create a classically styled Sauvignon Blanc exhibiting the flavors this wine is known for. To achieve this, we harvest early in the morning when it is cool and then refrigerate the grapes for 48 hours. The grapes are then pressed as full clusters and the juice is pumped to a stainless-steel tank for settling. After 48 hours of settling the juice is then racked (transferred) to another stainless-steel tank for fermentation.

All AmRhein's wines are made from 100% estate grown grapes cultivated in our three vineyard locations in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia since 1995.
