About Annefield Vineyards
Annefield Vineyards is a boutique wine grower near the village of Saxe in Southern Virginia. Planted in 2006, our vineyards lie on the eastern slope of the Staunton River Valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia's Southern Piedmont, a place of unparalleled beauty and rich history. Our mild climate and deep, well-drained soils allow us to produce elegantly styled, appropriately balanced and expressive wines. As is typical of Virginia's boutique wineries, production is small and labor intensive.
The tasting room is in the farm's circa 1858 Italianate plantation house, which has been attributed to antebellum master builder Jacob W. Holt (1811-1880), a housewright known for his distinctive dwellings in North Carolina and Southside Virginia. Now listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places, Annefield offers a unique and timeless setting for enjoying the fruits of our labor. Please join us.

This steel fermented Chardonnay explodes with fresh, crisp fruit, the nose combines tropical pineapple, mango and banana with the citrus notes of lemon, lime and grapefruit. The palate bursts is driven by a crisp Fuji apple character with an underlying minerality. Fresh and vivacious, this wine exhibits a light mid-palate. Perfect with soft cheeses, crab cakes, oysters, chicken, pasta dishes and salmon. Composition: 100% Chardonnay. Alcohol: 12.3%. 75 cases produced.
Our off-dry Viognier is perfect as a casual sipper, and pairs wonderfully with rich or spicy dishes. Aromas of pineapple and honeydew melon are abundant, the texture is thick and creamy and the finish has just enough sugar to make this wine accessible to interesting pairings without making it overtly sweet. Meat and fish dishes that have fruit components, such as pork with an apricot glaze or salmon with a fruit salsa work very well, as do spicy Asian inspired stir-fries and pasta dishes. It also pairs well with fruity desserts. Composition: 100% Viognier. Alcohol: 12.75%. 106 cases produced.
White Wine Blend
This is our casual, pleasant, fun for any occasion “patio” summer-sipper white. It has a medium to light body with citrus notes, fruity and food-friendly. Some tropical flavors like pineapple and guava are tinged with honeysuckle. It has 5% residual sugar, but off-dry. Serve with seafood, light pasta dishes and turkey burgers. Composition: 52% Vidal Blanc, 24% Traminette, 19% Viognier, 5% Petit Manseng. Alcohol: 12.5%. 75 cases produced.

Annefield Cabernet Sauvignon
This dark, ruby red has aromas dominated by black cherry with early tobacco notes moderated by rose water. Big and lush, with round, medium to full-body tannins. Impeccably balanced with an excellent palate and rich tannins – definitely age-worthy, for 7 to 10 years. Serve with leg of lamb, souvlaki, grilled meats, sausages, steaks, roasts, and beef stew. Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Alcohol: 12.5%. 24 cases produced.
Red Wine Blend
This wine has a deep ruby color. Aromas of cherries, dark berries and cedar jump from the glass of this rich, full-bodied and smooth Bordeaux-style blend. Cassis, cocoa powder and a hint of black pepper fill the palate. Good acid and firm, round tannins assure this classically balanced wine’s ability to age gracefully for the next 7 to 10 years. Serve with hamburgers, roast lamb, beef ribeye, filet mignon and roast duck. Composition: 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot. Alcohol: 12.8%. 128 cases produced.
