About Casanel Vineyards
Nelson and Kathleen DeSouza opened Casanel Vineyards on October 18,2008. Located amongst 50 acres in rural Leesburg,VA Casanel Vineyards has two ponds, one with a gazebo, a restored two floor mid 1800s stone tasting room (formerly a cow barn) with a large patio. There is also a log cabin on the property dating back to 1751. Come enjoy the peace and tranquility of our winery!
Hours of Operation
We are open Friday through Monday 11am to 6pm, as well as Thursday 2pm to 6pm. Please check our website, twitter (under Casanel), and Facebook (Casanel Vineyards fan page) for early closing for private events and closings for holidays.

2007 Chegada Viognier Our award winning 2007 Viognier has the traditional flowery bouquet viogniers are known for, as well as peach, honeysuckle, and pear flavors. Our viognier has a wonderful finish that is refeshing to the palate. This Viognier is almost gone!

2008 Batucada Our 2008 Viognier's crisp dry finish rejuvenates your taste buds on hot summer afternoons in Virginia. With flavors of pear, apricot, and grapefruit this Viognier is a great addition to a spicy meal.

2007 Chegada Cabernet Sauvignon Our Cabernet Sauvignon is the winner of a gold ribbon at the 2010 Virginia State Fair and received a bronze medal at the 2010 Governor's Cup. The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon goes down smooth with wonderful earthy aromas and berry flavors. A great crowd pleaser when paired with dark chocolate or decadent gourmet meals. Our Cab is bursting with flavor.

2007 Chegada Merlot A winner of two medals already! Our merlot bronzed in the 2010 Governor's cup and bronzed in the 2010 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition. Our 2007 Merlot is a pleasure to drink with its complex flavors and strong tannens. It's smokey aroma will entice you and the blackberry flavors will delight you.

2008 Batucada Norton The 2008 Batucada Norton, winner of a bronze medal from the 2010 Governor's cup, continues to surprise lovers of the Norton. Just like our 2007 Chegada Norton, this Norton is fermented in the rose style, making it a friendly wine rich with strawberry and raspberry flavors. It's a favorite on a hot summer day!

2007 Chegada Norton Our best seller and most unique wine, Casanel Vineyards has one of the few rose Nortons that exist in the state. We ferment this wine as a white, but its dark rose color classifies it as a rose. Our dry rose has 1/4 residual sugar, strawberry flavors, and a hint of spice in its nose, our Norton will make you a fan of Virginia's native grape. This vintage is almost gone, come and pick up your bottle soon!
