About Molliver Vineyards
Vineyard and winery located on 134+ acres of rolling scenic and tranquil southern Virginia countryside. Tuscan style setting with European appearance. Wildlife abound at the river, stocked pond, hardwood forest, piney forests, picnic areas, and hiking trails.
Hours of Operation
12:00 noon until 6:00 pm winter hours. 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm summer hours. Tasting and tours available. Please call ahead for an appointment.

Chardonnay
-
Chardonnay pairs well with chicken and other white meats such as turkey. Our Chardonnay is aged in the presence of oak which makes it a good complement to smoked fish, Asian foods, and Latin foods.

Pinot Gris / Grigio

Pinot Grigio has been cultivated since the Middle Ages. This variety can attain a very high level of sweetness. Pinot Grigio is delicately fragrant and floral with lightly lemon-citrus flavors. The wine is a dry, crisp white wine often high in acidity and low in tannins.

Riesling

Riesling was first produced in 15th century Germany and typically has aromas of flowers and tropical fruits. It pairs well with Asian dishes, fish, pork and salty foods. Serve at 50° F to 55° F.

Traminette

Traminette is a cross of Gewurztraminer and Joannes Seyve and has distinct Gewurztraminer characteristics and aroma. Persuasively, Gewurz is the German word for spice. Traminette ages well and develops honey and apricot flavors after two to five years. It has been recognized several times as an example of American greatness. Take pleasure in Traminette with spicy cuisines from the Orient and India.

Vidal Blanc is fruity, with grapefruit and pineapple notes. It pairs well with chicken, shrimp, crab, pasta dishes, cream sauce dishes, spicy dishes, and veal.

Cabernet Franc
-
Cabernet Franc pairs well with cheeses, tomato sauce dishes, ham, pork, veal, southern European foods, poultry, red meats and heavy game. This wine should be served between 65 to 70 degrees. It may seem fruiter and less dry at 70 degrees than at 65 degrees. Cabernet franc can be enjoyed when young or after 10 years of aging.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon goes well with red meats and foods with heavy cream sauces. Cabernet Sauvignon was first produced in France during the 17th century. Recent scientific evidence has shown that Cabernet Sauvignon is genetically derived from Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc.

Chambourcin
-
Chambourcin is a French-American hybrid grape variety, which was first bred during the 1860’s. This grape has become popular in Virginia, as well as other mid-Atlantic locations. The Chambourcin grape produces an intensely pigmented wine with a sweet-smelling flavor, and has no unpleasant crossbred flavors. It typically has a reasonable residual sugar level, giving it a satisfying but not overbearing sweetness. Chambourcin wines are often served with dark chocolate and chocolate flavored desserts, as the taste of the wine and the taste of the chocolate blend together unusually well.

The most frequent aromas and flavors typically found in Merlot include violet, rose, currant, black cherry, and plum. Merlots go well with shellfish like prawns or scallops, especially if wrapped in rich food such as bacon or prosciutto.

Norton

Norton is the oldest native North American wine grapes in commercial production today. It produces rich, deeply pigmented wines with spicy raspberry scented aromas. There are also hints of coffee and chocolate. This wine ages well. It is a great companion for both beef and zesty foods.
