About Saudé Creek Vineyards
Saude Creek is a privately owned and operated vineyard and winery located on the Pamunkey River in historic New Kent County, Virginia. The climate and mineral-rich clay soils of the Tidewater area contribute to our complex, food-friendly wines. Our site once boasted Frank's Tavern, a colonial inn and public house for wayfarers riding between ponits north and west and the Colonial capitol of Williamsburg. George Washington and the French General Rochambeau, among other patriots and notables of the time, reputedly slaked their thirsts here. We at Saude Creek invite you to do the same with our rare and excellent vintages.

Vidal Blanc
One of the most acclaimed French-American hybrids in Virginia, Vidal Blanc’s popularity comes from the vibrant beauty of the long amber clusters of vibrant grapes and the zesty flavor of the wine that it makes. Ours is a fruity, off-dry wine with grapefruit and peach characteristics and a nuanced finish. Refreshing by itself or with spicy foods.

Tavern White
Our Tavern White, in the style of the "à peine douce" wines beloved of the Colonials, is a piquant blend of Muscat and Chardonelle grapes, exhibiting the definite influence of apple, with bountiful floral notes, a hint of apricot and a distinct edge of ginger. A delicious, easy-drinking wine with a light floral nose and nuanced finish. Refreshing by itself and especially with seafood, gumbos and spicy foods.

Chambourcin
Chambourcin, often considered the best of the French-American hybrid grape varieties of our time, is a prolific grape that makes a medium-bodied wine with a ruby red color, surprisingly reminiscent of fine port. A very luscious sweet red, so exquisitely balanced that drinkers of dry wine love it too, this is the perfect holiday treat. Try it mulled (warmed) with cinnamon and cloves. Great with a wide variety of cheeses, and superb with dark chocolate. A magnificent after-dinner drink!
Meritage Blends
-
Meritage
Red blends crafted solely from specific noble varieties, namely the Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc grapes, in the Bordeaux style represent the centuries-old tradition of artisan blending, long considered the highest form of the winemaker’s art. Herewith we establish a rich and complex wine blended in the regal traditions of Bordeaux. Our Meritage has been aged in American oak for eighteen months and is bold yet nuanced, with a smooth finish. Meritage is perfect paired with prime rib, steaks and roasts, and stands tall with wild game.
Merlot

Merlot
Our Merlot has been aged in American oak for twelve months and is well-balanced, with a rich and silky texture, big cherry nose, round. A medium-bodied wine, it really shines when paired with game birds, veal, lamb or pork.

Tavern Red
Our Tavern Red, a Cabernet Franc blend in the style the Colonials favored and now brought into the present by Saudé Creek, is a piquant blend of red grapes, flaunting its deliciously mild sweetness loaded with notes of oak, currants and fall apples, with just a touch of lavender lingering on the palate. Often called "Christmas in a Bottle", this mellow, cheerful wine with a medium nose and long finish is the perfect choice for holiday celebrations, and just may be our ultimate cool weather sipper. Excellent with barbecue, stews and ragouts, and perfect to take the chill off.

Saudé Creek Red
A blend of several grape varietals, among them Merlot and Chancellor. Smooth in character, soft in tannins and acids, and with fruity aromas and berry flavors, you will find Saudé Creed Red simpler than our Merlot and Meritage and perfectly delightful when you want a light, semi-dry, easy drinking red. Serve it with pasta, chili or anything barbecued. Try this red with Jarlsberg cheese
