Veritas Winery, a family business owned by Andrew and Patricia Hodson, opened for business in June 2002, with the help of their daughter Emily Pelton they have succeeded in consistently producing a range of complex and elegant wines. The idyllic setting is easy to find but hard to leave located just off I64 at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The unique wines of Veritas are of high quality, derived from vitis vinifera with the exception of one French hybrid. Our philosophy is to make wine with the classic old world principles of Viticulture and Vinification at the same time using state of the art technology to capture varietal and regional character.

Saddleback Chardonnay
Saddleback Chardonnay is modeled after the “old world” style from Chablis, France. Utilizing 100% Chardonnay the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in neutral French oak barrels for 4 months. The nose is clean showing aromas of ripe apples, honeydew melon, quince, kiwi and peach backed with subtle tones of toast and clove spice. The Saddleback Chardonnay is medium bodied and layered with ripe tree fruits continuing with soft impressions of toast and spice from oak aging.

Harlequin Reserve Chardonnay
Harlequin Chardonnay barrel fermented and barrel aged for 6 months which helps to create layers of ripe fruit tones with a wonderful mouth feel. Delicate aroma of candied apples, pears, grapefruit and honey balanced with nuances of vanilla and butterscotch. The palate is consistent with the nose yet bringing on subtle flavors of clove and lightly toasted oak.

"Estate Bottled" Chardonnay is a clean crisp style produced solely in stainless steel tanks helping to keep the natural acidity of the grape. The nose is clean and lean showing aromas of citrus and under ripe tree fruits such as lemon, lime, green apple, quince, and white peach. The palate is light bodied and firm with acidity.
Petit Manseng
-
Petit Manseng is a white wine-producing grape that originates in the Jurancon region of southwest France, where it is highly regarded. The tropical flavors are jumping out of the glass with pineapple, mango, and candied citrus fruits backed with subtle nuances of spice and white flowers. The acidity carries the crisp, ripe flavors and allows the 5% residual sugar to become perfectly balanced as it resonates into a long clean finish.

2006 Scintilla
Scintilla is our Brut sparkling wine made using equal portions of Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. This wine is made in the traditional method that is used in Champagne, France where the second fermentation is completed inside of the bottle to trap the bubbles. The aroma and flavors are extremely fresh and crisp reminiscent of acidic fruits such as lemon, green apple and pear, accented by a touch of yeast and toasted brioche. The finish is clean, long and showing beautiful acidity which is heightened by creamy overtones.
