A Virginia Wine Dinner Featuring Michael Shaps Wineworks

Every year, we are pleased to show our appreciation to all the diligent people in the industry who work in the vineyards, wineries and cellars across the state and continue to amaze the world with Virginia wines. This October, we are proudly bringing you the wines of the distinguished Michael Shaps Wineworks.

Educated in oenology and viticulture in Burgundy, France, Michael Shaps decided to take his skills and expertise to Virginia to act as head winemaker at Jefferson Vineyards.  After 6 successful vintages, he decided to venture out on his own and began producing wine under the now highly regarded “Michael Shaps” label and is now one of the most recognized winemakers in the state.
 
We are delighted to have Michael Shaps join us for this event to share his story, expertise and award winning wines with you.  We hope you’ll join us this October as we tip our hats to Virginia winemaking and taste some of the finest Virginia has to offer!

Reception Wine: Le Dolci Colline Prosecco

Course 1:

Lump crab and artichoke spread over toasted baguette

Paired with 2016 Michael Shaps Petit Manseng

Course 2:

 Creamy oyster and vegetable chowder

Paired with 2016 Michael Shaps Chardonnay

Course 3:

Spaghetti tossed in a pecorino cream sauce topped with roasted vegetable candita and crumbled bacon

Paired with 2016 Michael Shaps Cabernet Franc

Course 4:

Filet Mignon in a rich bourbon cream sauce, served with mashed potato, Brussel sprouts and mushrooms with shallot frizzle

Paired with 2015 Michael Shaps Petit Verdot

Course 5:

S’mores tart with graham crust, chocolate peanut butter ganache and toasted marshmallow

Paired with 2013 Michael Shaps Raisin D’Etre Red
