As you may know, our local school board has put Madison County on the national map because of list of 21 books it has removed from school shelves, including such titles as Toni Morrison’s Tar Baby and Stephen King’s 11/22/63.
In response to this action and to the spate of book banning across the nation, we have decided to hold what we hope will be an annual anti-censorship festival to help our community understand the dangers of censorship and encourage us all to become involved in helping our children read and learn about diverse experiences in the world.
The festival begins at Noon on October 1 and will include speakers, activities, book sales - including those of banned titles - and food. We welcome everyone to Revalation to celebrate great books and our right to read in the U.S.
The event is free and open to the public.
