Guided Nature Hike through the Seven Bends State Park

Event Date

Sunday, July 26, 2020
10:00am - 12:00pm

Join us on a guided hike of newly-opened Seven Bends State Park, less than a mile from the entrance to Muse Vineyards. Based on the success of our inaugural hike, we’ve scheduled another opportunity to walk the PawPaw and Reservoir Trails

Enjoy beautiful forests, panoramic vistas of the valley and all that Mother Nature has to offer, and reward yourself afterward at Muse Vineyards with relaxation and our award-winning wines.
David V. Brotman, Executive Director of the Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River
Your guide will be David V. Brotman, Executive Director of the Friends of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, with whom we are proud to partner on this program. Their mission is to keep the North Fork of the Shenandoah River clean, healthy, and beautiful through advocacy, community action, education, and science. David has broad experience in environmental fieldwork, business, conflict resolution, and education. Times spent in the Shenandoah Valley as a boy and young man — camping, hiking, fishing, and canoeing — are the very roots of his environmental interests and his love of nature. David is a natural public educator and has taught all age groups in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Subjects have included Chesapeake Bay ecology, Wild Edibles, and many more. In Yellowstone NP, he trained citizen scientists in field methods.

About the Hike

The hike will be about 2 hours in length, mostly in shade, and of easy to moderate difficulty. (There are some moderately steep hills.) The group will stay together for David’s descriptions of the landscape, flora and fauna, so the pace will be at a slow to moderate pace. We recommend you wear hiking shoes and bring water. We will be safe distancing among groups.
