Norton

95% Norton, 5% Petit Verdot. This richly pigmented wine opens with a deep aroma of black plum, gentle smoke, and violet. The palate is juicy and bright exhibiting jammy brambleberry notes alongside spice, toasted wood and soft tannin. Barrel-aged 17 months in 50% new American oak. This is the inaugural vintage of our Estate Norton, which grows across the bottom of the hill at the south end of the vineyard. Norton is notable in Virginia as a hybrid grape originally developed in Richmond with both Vitis vinifera and Vitis aestivalis ancestry.
