Carriage House Wineworks

Carriage House Wineworks is an estate run premium boutique winery based in Waterford, VA.
We plan to open up our doors in the fall of 2020.

LOCATION: Our winery is located in the historic town of Waterford and is surrounded by scenic rolling hills covered in vineyards.

GRAPE GROWING

The owner Mike Fritze recognized that the key to good wine is good grapes. He farms his own Estate vineyard (Quartz Creek) of 6 acres to provide a guaranteed source of high-quality fruit. WInery production is now primarily Estate grown supplemented by some local Loudoun County fruit.

WINEMAKING

The winemaker, Michael Fritze, is also the owner of Carriage House Wineworks. He is a certified wine judge with the American Wine Society. A scientist by training, Mike started making wine as a hobby in 2010 and this passion soon grew out of hand.

His goal is to make the best possible wine out of locally (Estate) grown Waterford fruit. Winemaking is a lifetime learning experience and he has spent the past several years learning the characteristics of our Estate fruit. He has also benefited from generous advice and sharing that other Loudoun and VA winemakers were kind enough to provide.
