Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard is located in Louisa County, Virginia, nestled amongst rolling hills in a traditional farming community. The estate was licensed as the 53rd farm winery in Virginia in July of 1999 and was originally known as Cooper Vineyards. In July of 2015 the winery was sold to Dave and Susan Drillock, who have since made it their personal mission to craft quality Virginia wines that express the uniqueness of the Virginia terroir.
Fifty-Third wines are mostly from their two estate owned vineyards, the 53rd Vineyard located in Louisa, Virginia and the Windy Meadow Vineyard located in Free Union, Virginia. The 53rd Vineyard site has 20 acres with 16 in production: Albarino, Chardonel, Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin and Petit Verdot. Future plantings of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Norton will fill the remaining acerage. The Simmons Gap site has 12 acres in production, including Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Our annual case production fluctuates around 4000. Quality wine is our goal and our 53rd wine club with over 850 members will testify too!
