Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard is located in Louisa County, Virginia, nestled amongst rolling hills in a traditional farming community. The estate was licensed as the 53rd farm winery in Virginia in July of 1999 (we were formerly known as Cooper Vineyards). In July of 2015 the winery was sold to Dave and Susan Drillock, who have since made it their personal mission to craft quality Virginia wines that express the uniqueness of the Virginia terroir.
Currently we are tending two vineyards, the 53rd Vineyard located in Louisa, Virginia and the Simmons Gap Vineyard located in Free Union, Virginia. The 53rd Vineyard site has 20 acres in production: Albarino, Chardonel, Viognier, Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Norton. The Simmons Gap site has 10 acres in production, including Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Our annual case production fluctuates around 4500, and currently we have one of the largest wine clubs in the state of Virginia with over 900 members!
