In 2017, for the first time in Pollak Vineyards' history, we have been able to produce a quality wine that lives up to the name Smuggler. This wine is a labor of love from our entire crew. From the maintaining of the vineyard, to the blending and aging of the wine, this reflects our best.
Having such perfect conditions in 2017, we were able to produce a blend specifically from our family Smuggler block, and is comprised of 56% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Spending slightly more time in a higher percentage of new oak, the wine carries aromas of plum, white pepper, mission figs, and vanilla. The flavors on the palate bring notes of black cherry, pomegranate, and baking spice. Tannins are present but smooth enough to enjoy now, and will also frame the wine for years of aging.
