Merlot

Merlot

Fresh, red fruit characteristics of redcurrant and red cherry lead into a pleasant, vibrant, medium-bodied mid-palate. Well-integrated, lightly chalky tannins.

The 2014 vintage gave us a welcome bounty of Merlot, after the wonderfully ripe but sadly small crop of 2013. For the 2014, the fruit showed more bright raspberry and cherry notes, and so the wine was led in a more fruit-forward, medium-bodied direction. In order to achieve this, extraction was kept in check and oak use was light – just 10% new oak for the final blend. The result is a wonderfully fruity and vibrant Merlot, more of a similar style to our 2009 bottling.
