Deep red in color, this wine is silky on the palate, with ripe, jammy fruit and a powerfully long finish that is pleasant and slightly smokey. A rich, age-worthy wine. We held off on the release of our 2013 Petit Verdot longer than usual for this varietal, due to the intense depth not only of flavor and mouthfeel, but also of tannin. Very varietally correct, with pronounced aromatics, much of the blending with this wine was done for structural purposes: Cab Sauv and Merlot to round out the mid-palate and add vibrancy to the finish. This wine harkens back to the days of our 2010 Petit Verdot – huge, intense, dark, and complex. Pair with sirloin steak, venison, hearty stews or dark chocolate.
