Ingleside Vineyards is one of the oldest wineries in Virginia. The first commercial wines were produced in 1980 and were made from hand-harvested grapes grown in the vineyards. Ingleside wines are produced in the same way today and have consistently earned top honors in state, national, and international wine competitions.
Ingleside has been honored as a Virginia Century Farm, with over one hundred years of continuous farm operation. Charles H. Flemer purchased Ingleside in 1890, and today one of his great-great grandsons is proprietor of Ingleside Vineyards, Doug Flemer. The winery is housed in the estate's former dairy barns.
Ingleside is located in the Northern Neck of Virginia, a peninsula formed by the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers, both tributaries of the majestic Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay is a major factor in creating a stable climate fundamental to grow top-quality vines. The vineyards currently cover about 25 acres of gently rolling and well-drained countryside. Ingleside is surrounded by rich American history. Nearby are the birthplaces of George Washington, James Monroe and the Lees of Virginia.
Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tasting flight with indoor or outdoor seating. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the European-style courtyard. Or choose from a selection of gourmet cheeses and meats in the gift shop. The Ingleside museum showcases local and natural history. Frequent wine events, including a summer music series, bring together wine lovers from throughout the region.
Ingleside's Estate Club offers benefits such as preferred pricing on wines and events, member-only events, access to archive wines and more.
Ingleside is conveniently located 15 minutes from Colonial Beach, 20 minutes from King George or Montross, and 45 minutes from Downtown Fredericksburg or Tappahannock.
