Merlot Reserve

Cabernet Franc and Merlot represent the largest red plantings in both of our Slater Run vineyards, with 3.75 acres of Cabernet Franc and 1.8 acres of Merlot. Both of these varietals ripen earlier than our other reds (Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) and show great versatility in the cellar as: components of red blends, as Rosé both still and sparkling, and as single varietals. In fact, we produce two single varietal wines for each Merlot and Cabernet Franc—No Sulfites added Merlot & Merlot Reserve and Classic Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Franc Reserve. This Merlot Reserve was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, ranging from new to third use.
