Economic Impact Report
This survey will assess the overall direct and indirect impact that wine and grapes have on the overall Virginia economy. This information in turn will likely be used to help generate additional funds for the industry’s continued marketing and development efforts. All submission are anonymous.

The Virginia Wine Board is seeking qualified applicants to submit a proposal to: Organize industry led research initiatives which address the enology and viticultural issues impacting the Commonwealth of Virginia. The projects should focus on vineyard and winery techniques specific to Virginia, ideally led by local wineries and winemakers. The project should focus on potential enology techniques for improving Virginia wines. The successful applicant is encouraged to utilize and partner with established Wine Trails (vineyard operators and wine makers) within their American Viticulture Areas (AVA).

Three Virginia wineries, Barboursville Vineyards, Trump Winery, and Narmada Winery, took home a total of six gold medals at the 2013 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Barboursville Vineyards received two gold medals (2010 Premium Bourdeaux Blend and 2011 Cabernet Franc) and one bronze medal (2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve). Trump Winery received two gold medals (2012 Viognier and 2008 Blanc de Blanc Brut) and a silver medal (2008 Premium Borudeax Blend). Narmada Winery received two gold medals (2011 Viognier and 2010 Chambourcin, Reflection). In all, Virginia wines earned 43 medals: six gold, 14 silver and 23 bronze.
