Veritas Vineyards and Winery

For 25 years, Veritas Vineyards and Winery has succeeded in consistently producing a range of complex and elegant wines. The idyllic setting is easy to find but hard to leave, located just off I-64 at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and 30 minutes outside of Charlottesville.

Veritas wines are all unique and of high quality, derived from Vitis vinifera, with the exception of one French hybrid. Our philosophy is to make wine with the classic, old-style principles of Viticulture and Vinification, at the same time using state-of-the-art technology to capture varietal and regional character.

Owners Andrew and Patricia Hodson bought Saddleback Farm, what is now Veritas Vineyards and Winery, in March of 1999. Started on a wish and a prayer, along with all of their children and a few additional family members; throughout the years, they have planted, cultivated, and harvested over 5,000 tons of grapes. With more than 60 acres of vines and eleven different types of grape varieties Veritas has become a household name simply because of the outstanding quality of wines produced.

With each year, winemaker Emily Hodson pays homage to the stunning landscapes where our grapes flourish under the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Embracing time-honored viticulture (grape cultivation) and vinification practices (conversion of grapes into wine through fermentation), Emily combines traditional methods with cutting-edge technology to preserve each varietal's authentic essence and unique character.
